How to Write Grant Applications for Foundations

When you’re putting together a grant application for foundations, it’s super important to make sure it’s easy to follow and really grabs their attention.

Here are some handy tips on how I would  format a grant application like a pro:

1. **Cover Letter**: Kick things off with a killer cover letter that introduces your organization and why you’re applying for the grant. Make sure to customize it for each foundation you’re reaching out to.

2. **Executive Summary**: Give a quick rundown of your project, including what issue you’re tackling, your goals, and how much funding you need.

3. **Introduction**: Tell them about your organization, what you’re all about, and why you’re the right fit for their support.

4. **Statement of Need**: Spell out the problem you’re addressing and back it up with solid data and stats.(remember to use your case of support).

5. **Project Description**: Get into the nitty-gritty of your project – objectives, activities, timeline, and what you hope to achieve. Keep it real and specific.

6. **Budget**: Lay out exactly how you plan to use the grant money. Show both what you’ll spend it on and where you’ll get other funds from.

7. **Evaluation Plan**: Explain how you’ll measure your project’s success and impact. Give them clear numbers and indicators.

8. **Sustainability**: Show them how your project will keep going even after the grant ends. Talk about long-term funding and support.

9. **Attachments**: Don’t forget to include any extra stuff they might need, like support letters, staff resumes, or research.

10. **Formatting**: Keep it all organized with clear headings, subheadings, and bullet points. Make it easy for them to read and find what they need.

Don’t forget to check the foundation’s requirements!

Good luck with your grant application.
