I absolutely love this thought-provoking quote: “What if it does work exactly how you imagined it—or even better?” — Idillionaire.
Isn’t that an exciting thought? When we allow ourselves to imagine what could be, the possibilities seem endless. This is exactly what I want to talk about today: the immense power of imagination and vision, and how those very qualities can shape our future in ways we never thought possible.
“What if it does work exactly how you imagined it—or even better?”
Idillionaire.
When I was younger, I had this burning dream of traveling the world. My uncle was a frequent traveler—he went “abroad” often, and every time he returned, he’d share stories from far-off lands, each more fascinating than the last. The gifts he’d bring for my mom, his sister, were like little treasures from places I could only imagine. I was enchanted, and from that moment, I knew that one day, I would see those faraway lands for myself.
When the opportunity finally came for me to travel, I could hardly contain my excitement. I overpacked, of course. But one of my more memorable moments was when I offered to carry my boss’s heavy suitcase filled with books. In my enthusiasm, I didn’t realize the suitcase was far too heavy for me to handle alone, and as soon as I tried to lift it on the airport escalator, the drag-along handle snapped! There I was, holding on by the side handle, struggling with a suitcase that was far too heavy for me to carry. I laughed at myself, determined that I would never make that mistake again. But, I digress—let’s return to the magic of imagination.
You see, as children, we start out with boundless imaginations. We dream without limitations, and we believe that anything is possible. But somewhere along the way, life happens. We face setbacks, disappointments, and rejections. We begin to question whether we are good enough, whether we are capable of achieving the dreams we once held dear. Doubt creeps in, and before we know it, that beautiful vision we had starts to fade.
But what if we choose to believe again? What if the very thing we fear—failure—doesn’t happen at all? What if it works out exactly how we imagined it—or even better?
In Habakkuk 2:2, we are told, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it” (NKJV). The Message version puts it this way: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run.” This is an invitation to dream boldly and to articulate our vision. As we come to the close of the year, I encourage you to take time to reflect, to imagine the possibilities of what could be, and most importantly, to write it down.

Habakkuk 2:2, The Message
In 2025, don’t let discouragement or past disappointments steal your vision. Your dreams are still possible. Even if things didn’t go as planned this year, remember that every setback is an opportunity to refine your vision, to make it even stronger, clearer, and more focused.
Ask yourself, “What if it works out better than I imagined?” Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back. When we entertain the idea that anything is possible, we give ourselves permission to move forward with courage, with creativity, and with unshakable belief in the power of what we can create.
The possibilities are endless. Let your imagination take flight.
Write down your vision.
Step boldly into the future, knowing that you have the power to make it a reality, greater than you ever dreamed.
Your friend in the journey,
Esther
