At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22
When my child was a toddler, one of the first things she’d ask as soon as we got into the car for a trip was, “Are we there yet?” And let me tell you, that question would come again in five minutes. Then, 30 minutes later, we’d hear it again. It didn’t matter that we hadn’t even left the city yet—she was ready to be at the destination, right now.
“Where are you going? and why are you going so fast?”

As frustrating as it was back then, I realize now how much that impatience mirrored my own. How many times in my life have I asked God, “Are we there yet?” in my own way? Whether it’s waiting for a career change, a relationship to evolve, or even for personal growth, it often feels like we’re rushing toward the finish line, eager for the outcome. We want the journey to be over already.

But life, like road trips, isn’t always about the destination. It’s about what we learn, who we become, and the growth that happens along the way. I can’t help but chuckle at how impatient my toddler was, but I know I can be just as impatient now, especially when things don’t unfold on my timeline.
So, next time I’m tempted to ask, “Are we there yet?”—I’ll remind myself that the journey itself is just as important as the destination. And, as hard as it might be, patience truly does make the ride sweeter.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11
